Rules and Regulations: Indoor Storage

Before reserving a storage room, please read through the following rules and regulations for storing with Metro.

Policies & Procedures

  • Prepayment must be made to reserve your storage unit.
  • Prices subject to change depending on accessibility and availability.
  • All customers and access persons must sign in at the front desk and present photo ID before accessing the building. No customers will be
allowed access until they have signed in at the office and a Metro representative has verified the account.
  • Invoices are reminders only. Your rent is due on the same day of the month that you moved in.
  • When vacating a room, your account must be paid in full (cash or credit card only on day of move-out), and your room must be completely
emptied and checked out by a staff member. You are legally responsible for the rent on your contract until you receive a “Move Out” receipt.
  • Smoking is not allowed anywhere in the building.
  • Alcoholic beverages are not allowed in the building.
  • Food is not allowed in the building.
  • Pets are not allowed in the building.
  • No loud, obscene, or abusive language or music in the building.
  • Metro does not insure your belongings, your home owners or renters insurance usually covers personal storage. Check with your local
agent first. If you need an insurer, please ask one of our staff and we will refer you to a storage insurance specialist.
  • We are on an anniversary billing schedule, so whatever day you move in will be your monthly due date. We do not prorate.

Storage Limitations

  • No food or vehicles of any kind are permitted in the indoor storage facility.
  • No firearms or explosives are to be kept in storage rooms.
  • Any gas-powered equipment (lawn mowers, snow blowers, etc.) must have all gas removed before storage.
  • Refrigerators and freezers should be defrosted before storage. Prop open the doors to avoid mold.

Late-Fee Schedule (All fees are non-negotiable)

  • Returned check fee: $35
  • 6 days overdue: $20 late fee
  • 31 days overdue: $30 collection fee
  • Auctioneer Fee: $130 for storage room, $500 for vehicles

Disclaimer:

All pricing includes New York State sales tax and fees. April 1st– October 31st: Same day cancellations will be 100% refunded. Reservations canceled within 7 days will be subject to a 30% holding fee. Any cancellations after 7 days are not eligible for a refund but will receive a Metro credit of equal value, valid for up to one year. Credit is not transferable. October 1st– April 30th: No refunds or credits on any rent or reservations for vehicles during this time. Winter terms are a minimum of 4 months and must be prepaid to guarantee your reservation. You will be allowed to extend this special beyond the 4 months at the time of drop-off. Any missed appointments during this time are subject to a $25 missed appointment fee if not cancelled within 24 hours and confirmed by Metro Self-Storage staff. Please reserve your spot before October 1st, as we have historically sold out by this date. Reservations are on a first-come, first-served basis only, no exceptions. Winter storage is billed on anniversary dates. We require 7 days’ notice for vehicle pickup. View full pickup policies and extension options in our FAQ section. Before reserving a car storage space, please read through the following rules and regulations for storing with Metro.

Heated Car Storage Requirements

  • Vehicles in storage must be in good running order, including brakes, steering, tires, clutch, and battery. Any vehicle not meeting these
conditions may be refused entry. We do require your car be covered while it is in storage.
  • You must leave a spare key with us as vehicles may be moved as business dictates.
  • There is no access to a vehicle during its storage period. This ensures that no customers have access to other customers’ property.
  • Appointments must be scheduled 7 days prior to either dropping off or removing a vehicle from our facility, as your vehicle may be blocked
    by other stored vehicles.
  • Once a vehicle exits the building, your contract is terminated. Be sure you have selected and paid for the proper term, as we do not give
    refunds for early exits.
  • Due to insurance reasons, our professional staff must park all vehicles in the facility. Therefore, customers are not allowed to park their own
    vehicles.
  • A copy of your title or registration and driver’s license is required upon delivery of your vehicle

Vehicle Maintenance

  • We disconnect the negative terminal on your vehicle battery to prevent it from dying. We do not allow batteries to be removed from
    vehicles.
  • If requesting to use your own trickle charger or tire monitor service, we charge an additional $9/month + tax. Moreover, customers must provide their own NOCO or Battery Tender 3-5 amp tricker charger for this service. Metro Storage is not responsible for chargers that fail, or compromise battery integrity. Although trickle chargers do have their advantages, we recommend we disconnect the battery on most vehicles. Given that newer model vehicles may have multiple batteries and newer electronic systems that may require service we recommend you contact your dealership to get their recommendation for trickle chargers. Additionally, some models may require special charging.
  • All “in and out” services for motorcycles only during the summer months will require a 3-5 amp trickle charger, provided by the customer.
  • Lastly, please feel free to mention any specific requests for your vehicle, and our staff will be happy to help you
